The first poster for Star Trek Into Darkness and a new poster for Superman: Man of Steel were released today. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing both of these films.
It looks like this version of the reboot will indeed feature an exploration of the darker side of heroism. The sight of a handcuffed Superman surrounded by a military squad is a bit shocking. But that’s the MO of Director Zach Snyder, not to mention producer Christopher Nolan. Clark Kent returns to theaters on June 14, 2013, but you can see the new trailer ahead of The Hobbit in theaters on December 14th.
Star Trek Into Darkness, has the misfortune of having a horrible name, but a great villain (who I assume we’re seeing there on the poster in the form of Benedict Cumberbatch). The cast of the 2009 film (has it really been that long?) will be returning for this sequel. We don’t know much other than the crew faces a force of incredible destruction. If you head out to see The Hobbit in IMAX you’ll also be treated to the first 9 minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness.
Do I sense a theme of darkness here? With an economic recovery just starting to poke it’s leaves out of the dirt, I hope there are some bright and sunny movies coming out too.
