New Turbo Trailer from Dreamworks

Turbo

Dreamworks Animation has decided that it will release two animated features a year. So, as you go and see Crood this weekend (Chris Sanders’ direction makes it looks amazing, btw) you’ll also see the trailer for their summer film – Turbo. Directed by David Soren, Turbo tells the story of a snail that dreams of winning the Indy 500. (Don’t judge until you see it)

Okay, now that you’ve seen it, you can judge. Yeah, it’s cute, and the character design is smart, but seriously, Snails?

At a time when ever box office receipt is important to the continued existence of Dreamworks Animation, I have to question the choices here. What do you think?

Full synopsis below:

From the makers of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, TURBO is a high-velocity 3D comedy about an underdog snail who kicks into overdrive when he miraculously attains the power of super-speed. But after making fast friends with a crew of streetwise, tricked-out es-car-goes, Turbo learns that no one succeeds on their own. So he puts his heart and shell on the line to help his pals achieve their dreams, before Turbo-charging his own impossible dream: winning the Indy 500.
